Inverness technologies Supports Prince
William County Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA) Initiative

Inverness Technologies has been selected to support Prince William
County in preparing to implement the HIPAA Security Standard.
Several PWC agencies handle medical information for their community
(including the Health Department, Community Services Board, Department
of Social Services, Agency on Aging, Adult Detention Center, and
Fire and Rescue). In addition, PWC handles its own employee health
insurance. In preparation for implementation of the HIPAA Security
Standard in April 2005, Inverness is assisting PWC to identify
the security risks that exist with regard to Electronic Protected
Health Information (ePHI) and to develop recommendations to eliminate
or mitigate these risks. An important aspect of this effort is
the identification and evaluation of technologies that can assist
with HIPAA compliance. Through this effort, Inverness will assist
PWC to:
Inverness Technologies' combined expertise in security, business
process reengineering, technology assessment, and healthcare was
the basis for our selection to participate in this important effort.
